Personal Data Protection Act – Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003

Italian Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003, the so-called “Personal Data Protection Act,” went into effect on 1 January 2004 as a reform of a 1996 law. The new law requires regulatory compliance, in proportion to the entities’ complexity, by businesses and corporations that use personal data (defined as data specific to individuals as well as to legal entities, corporations, and associations).
